Nani Sorry for the Red Card

He should learn how to tackle, but he’s sorry for that:

That is normal, as tackles like that are not permitted in the Premier League. I accept my responsibility for my actions, though they were not premeditated. I insist that my objective was to play the ball and not the foot of Petrov.

The incident happened in the middle of the pitch and I don’t think I merited being sent off. I am not a violent footballer. My career is in this sport.

I wanted to recover the ball and I saw the chance to stop Petrov.

Now I am sorry, because I have damaged the performance of my team. I am convinced that had we finished with 11 men we would have won.

We have wasted the opportunity to be first in the table. And it is very bad for me, as I have been developing my best form of the season.”

Yes lad, your recklessness could cost us the title. But nevermind, hope we can still win it without your contribution in the next 2 game (not counting the Carling Cup).

I thought the card could cost us the title (that was before Saha scored the 2nd goal), but our boss think otherwise:

“We have gained. It was an important night and, with Everton winning against Chelsea, we have gained one point and one goal. It could be important point.”

On Nani’s red card:

“It was a sending off. It was a red card. It was a naive tackle. He is not a malicious player but he has gone in with his foot raised off the ground and we cannot complain about it.”

We Didn’t Win, But Chelsea Lose

We started quite well yesterday at Villa Park, except the fact that Nani got his marching order early. Whether it was supposedly a red card or not a red card is different business. Since then, we dominate the game but never seem to be able to score. So in my opinion, 1-1 was a fair result. On the other side of the country, Chelsea lose to Everton at Goodison Park, thanks to Luis Saha’s goals and John Terry’s mistakes.

Now we’re second on the table, 1 point separate us with temporary league leaders (they haven’t go to Old Trafford, yet).

On injury news, we’re waiting for Giggsy’s x ray result (Update: Giggsy is out for 4 weeks. Dammit!). Hope all is well.

We can win the title this season, we can win it!

FA Cup 4th Round, Here We Come!

Today, at FA Cup 3rd round, we beat 10 man Southampton 3-0 with goals from Danny Welbeck (1st half), Luis Nani and Darron Gibson (2nd half).

Half an hour before kickoff the 4th round draw was made, we will face Tottenham Hotspurs at home on the weekend of Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 January.

Remember last year when we were beaten by Redknapp’s Portsmouth? When Ferdinand (i wish it was O Shea to replace red carded Kuszcak) was beaten by Muntari’s penalty? Now time for revenge . Bring it on Tottenham!
