Michael Carrick to retire at end of season

The captain will retire at the end of 2017/2018 season and reportedly is going to take a first team coaching role at United under Jose Mourinho.

The underrated ex-England midfielder was key in several title winning teams under Sir Alex Ferguson. I am sad to see him retire but glad that he’s staying at Manchester United.

I saw this happen when I heard news about Wayne Rooney was leaving the club. Michael Carrick is a United legend he totally deserved it, but shouldn’t a club captain is someone who plays week in week out?
