I’ve heard calls for a better defense. My answer is replace Rio Ferdinand and Manchester United will get instantly stronger.Granted, he’s big and intimidating, but in my opinion he needs to improve his technique or Sir Alex should replace him. Some will point to the great defensive plays that he has made and he does make some good ones… But I ask you to rewind the Tivo/DVR/Tape to 5-10 seconds earlier and you’ll find Rio missing the easy play, being out of position, or otherwise being fooled. Don’t scoff! You’ll see him caught flat-footed. So I’m over-dramatizing it, but the point I’m trying to make is that a lot of the discomfort we feel in the middle is due to the play of Ferdinand. He’s flat out lazy sometimes, and because of it I’ve seen goals scored against United as Rio looked on. Oh, and who can forget the game when Rio was having a blood sugar problem? The med-tech comes on the field and produces juice and cookies — too funny.
Well if you watch the game from TV, it’s true discovered sometimes Rio being cheated by the faster strikers. Bu who doesn’t? I think we need Ferdinand more than ever, let’s encourage him to do better for the club’s defense. This is a team play, remember?
