The Guardian runs a story on sport tv piracy, which is all make sense.
It’s no secret that people all around the world watch sport channel illegally. And that has happen for a while. But yet the corporates, who own the contents, are refusing to follow the stream and find another liable business model. Instead they are just stubbornly refuse their defeats.
Sport, like music and mainstream media beforehand, has a stark choice before its governing bodies. If they remain resolute in their determination to follow old-school methods of disseminating their product, they will quickly drown under the deluge of fraudsters and pirates all too eager to capitalise on their mistakes. On the other hand, if they realise that they have to adapt to financially survive, they need to move fast to prevent a potentially catastrophic loss of income.
Note on Premier League:
The English Premier League and the Spanish Primera Division are two of the most heavily pirated leagues in the world, and despite the best efforts of regulators the problem is only getting worse with every passing year.
The writer also mention a successful Indian Premiere League cricket games that are streamed on YouTube, which is work out well so far:
The IPL authorities have a guaranteed income from their YouTube deal and, with a dedicated millions-strong audience subscribing to their feed, advertisers know how many people they can reach via the stream and how much each commercial slot is worth.
i pay cable subscription to watch the EPL. Again please note that i am not suggesting sport fans to pirate copyrighted stuff. But I don’t see any evidence that sport tv piracy is slowing down, nor the strong hands from the content authorities with lawsuits, take down notice et cetera to the pirates.
It’s a war (literally) out there and things are surely getting worse. The one who are losing money the most are the content owners, not the pirates. So who are losing the battle?
If i’m wrong, please educate. But if you can’t beat them, join them!
