Can Money Buy Success in Football?

Thoughts September 4th, 2008

Of course. How come they’re not?

Only retarded envy would disagree.

This topic has been surrounding English Premier League (and football in general) enthusiasts all over the world since the shocking take over of Manchester City’s ownership earlier this week.

However, we’ve been seeing Chelsea, whom £500 million and 3 managers later, still find themselves out of Champions League titles. Even Roman Abramovich wasn’t look like a rich guy at all when he was anxious to see his team lost to our team and Peter Kenyon looks like no different than that guy who fought with Patrice Evra the other day at Stamford Bridge… hold on, he’s the CEO of Chelsea? Oh good… Football Winners beat the money. A coincidence? No. In fact, they spent money to buy winners.

Of course they went to semis and a final but only winners that count. More weight on that especially if we count the amount of money they’ve spent on ‘Winning Quadruples’ and ‘Global Domination’ plans.

I still and perhaps always remember when Roman Abramovich, that super rich Russian bought Chelsea and inject super money to Stamford Bridge Brigade. I saw many other club fans retardedly convert to Chelsea. I was a friend to some of them back in the days. Seems like Man Utd glorious days are over, seems like it was the end of the world.

As a South Asian fan, i grew up hating Chelsea and Arsenal rather than Liverpool and Man City. So the views of Mourinho and his gang beat every other teams, including Man Utd, in the EPL really hurt me. I was constantly in pain.

I remember the dark days of not winning titles in several years but hey, once the team are stable, we’re back on our track of winning titles. We prove that instant money can buy success, but again hey, for how long and how much?

Now seems like the new Chelsea is Man City (probably Sparky will become the new Ranieri) and suddenly Abramovich looks like a poor guy and his scary Blue brigade sounds like has past their peak. Even if he has spent that much and brought excitement to EPL via Mourinho, their last year’s coach (who?) and now Big ‘Nose’ Phil and their super expensive team (they’re also super strong team remember…). But money burns fast aren’t they? Like 4 or 5 years? More? How much for how long? Is it worthy? Do you think the oil prices will continue to grow? Do you think we even still use oils in the next 10 years?

Hey don’t get me wrong cause i can make my life more misery as i will never become as rich as Dr. Arabians (only God knows) and I do think Man City is planning to challenge every football club in Europe, if not the world. But back to a similar question; When. This season? Next? 2012? If so, for how long? When will another ‘10 times richer owners’ buy other teams in the EPL? This circle might continue…

However, i don’t really care what the new Man City or any other rich owners say because heck they can say whatever they want as they can afford the cost to invest to a football club and to where their mouth is in term of buying success. I don’t know, i might be wrong, so good luck to Manchester City and the next richest club in the world whomever it is.

So. Although it’s interesting to see what these rich guys will do in January, next season, 2012, 2013 blah blah… i believe our time is now.

NOW IS THE FUTURE. We have everything we need to retain our title, we have players, culture, and we are not losing money we need to buy more players we need (that worth the money) in the future. Man Utd is not a poor club, ok? So let’s concentrate on football and win games (and revenge back to Man City double last year!!!).

F**k other teams, Manchester United is the best club in the world (Ryan Giggs says so!).

Whatever, come on you reds!

Would You Join a Group for a Club that You Hate?

Thoughts, stupidity August 6th, 2008

I might be wrong and against a lot of people but i don’t think it’s a good idea. I’ve just checked my email and got this invitation to join an Anti Chelsea group at a one of the biggest football social networking site i’ve joined last year.

I rejected the invitation, why? First and foremost, I only like Manchester United. I don’t even enjoy watching football if there’s no connection with Manchester United. It’s good, that i am a fan of a great club. But in other side, i hate any other club in this planet, especially when they become opponent of Manchester United. The question is, how many Anti This and That group should i join to express my feeling about those football clubs? Second, i don’t rate Chelsea that much i don’t think i should join a club dedicated to Chelsea.

I didn’t use the site well since i don’t feel or need to commute with other football fan except with Manchester United fans. It’s like a religion to me, so why debating my beliefs? There’s no need to discuss your beliefs with somebody that don’t have the same faith with you. Everything ManUtd do is wrong for them, and everything they do is wrong for me. So what’s the point of discussion? I believe not every ‘discussion’ is good though. Sometimes you just need to go for it and do your own way.

Note to this. Several people in any given times stop by this blog and express they hate of our club. It doesn’t bother me really because i also hate their favorite clubs. So what. However, some of these morons even show their hate by having some antimanu or antimanutd domains (seriously). Well, in other side that is why i become a fan of Manchester United. There’s no grey area for Manutd, you’ll hate or love United. But all in all, i will never buy antirealmadrid or antiarsenal or maybe fuckbregas.com to show my hate to other club. Well maybe if i’m drunk because it’s so easy purchasing things in the internet, but even if i end up buying these stupid domains because i’m so drunk, i won’t use it as soon as i got sober. Well, maybe i will park it since i spent my money already :D.

In conclusion it’s so stupid and a waste of time. Go support your team goddammit or shut up.

Sir Alex Denied Chelsea Jibe

Thoughts July 26th, 2008

Ok. That’s it. Newspapers are going mad. They still sell even at slow football season thanks to Ronaldo and Roman Calderonista saga, now they want every peace of Manchester United meat: quoting that SAF dismissed Chelsea chances to win the title, Tevez also want to play Real Madrid blah blah blah… What next?

At the official site, SAF denied Chelsea jibe which responded with smile by big nose Phil and a bit of wrath from the oldest member of the blue squad, Michel Ballack (is he? I don’t know, i don’t care). As Euro is over and Ballack’s team again hit record as second winner, my hate is pointing at him again as the enemy of Reds.

SAF also denied Carloz Tevez backed Ronaldo to off Old Trafford to somewhere in Spain, i don’t know.

So it’s clear, not only they crazy but (most) major media really suck.

Go read fan blogs.

New Direction of Manchestered.com

Thoughts July 17th, 2008

Been planning this for a while and i guess there’s no better time to start it out in the near future since the new season will begin shortly.

After trying out installing some new CMS applications on this Manchester United Blog (a Wiki and a Social Voting), i guess it’s time for me to start a blog with and for my fellow Indonesians.

By far i have 1 contributor and we will start to manage the operational of this blog together. However, we’re open for new team members as we plan to expand and want to be the best Manchester United Blog Indonesians can offer. Sounds ambitious remembering that so many forums and fan clubs are out there but, hey, this is internet content era, who knows if we can produce the best interesting contents continuously and gather the biggest crowds?

Anyway, it hasn’t happen yet so we’ll be focus our effort to achieve that.

This is What Real Madrid really Want…

Support, Thoughts July 16th, 2008

… and the very last thing we need.

If the same situation continues, which seems like it, then we lost the war against Real Madrid. The heavy winding road to lure Ronaldo away from Theater of Dreams is soon ended with him wanting out afraid of fan’s rage.

However, i trust Sir Alex’s decision whether he’ll let Ronaldo out or stay. As a fan i will support no matter what the decision will.

Manchester United is bigger than everyone. Let’s prove it.

I’ll Forgive Ronaldo

Support, Thoughts, club, players, stupidity June 25th, 2008

I don’t care if the lads say his heart and his mind is in Real Madrid. The fact is, he is a Manchester United player. I’m seeing the trend goes among the fans hating him. Well i do hate him until this sane morning, after 12 hours of sleep.

What i see when i’m sane is not only Reds fans are starting to hate him so much, i see the trend THAT THE ENEMIES ARE ALSO URGES HIM TO LEAVE MANCHESTER UNITED. So i begin to realize that this trend is actually shit. This is a general effort to weaken the European and English Champion before the new season begin.

See? The rumour said that SAF will leave OT if The Glazers sell Ronaldo, then Queiroz linked with Portugal National Team, David Gill is in Arsenal’s wish list, Ronaldo and Real Madrid. Then the Big nose Phil starting his job early as Chelsea coach by advising the lad to leave Reds and his lack of concentration of the game but on his new bank account, cost Portugal out of Euro very early, then all football pundit and Reds enemy bullshit try to get their hands to this crisis.

What will be the reason that we will start as a strong team next season and have all the chances to retain our title and win even more? WE NEED A STRONG TEAM. Last year’s champions team plus some more players to even strengthen the team. That strong team must include Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s in the agenda.

We have the chance to beat everyone we meet and our enemies know that. They want us weak and they’re laughing so hard to see the mess we are going through.

So fuck you enemies, i want Ronaldo to stay. I’ll forgive him, as long as he scores a lot of goals and help us to win more trophies! Come on Ronaldo, please stay. After this upcoming season, if you want to leave, and as long as SAF letting you go, then go. Now please enjoy your vacation then back to Manchester and let’s beat all motherfuckers.

Come on you Reds, let’s win even more!

Manchester United Wiki Project

Support, Thoughts, club, internet, legend May 30th, 2008

In the last couple of days, i’ve been working on Manchester United Wiki. The Wiki page is planned to be hosted here in Manchestered.com in separate directory. I have done with the installation and some CSS make ups to make it look RED. However, i am yet convince when to launch it since i am still working on the site tutorials and importing Wiki Reds related articles from other Wiki sites.

As soon as i think it’s ‘enough’ then i’ll launch the Wiki site.

Update: I’m temporarily take down the wiki site due to security s**t that i am yet able to handle. Hope this can be resolved soon.

Queiroz to Spain: Take Colombus, Leave Ronaldo Alone

Thoughts, other teams, players May 29th, 2008

Queiroz to Spain: Take Colombus, Leave Ronaldo AloneReds no. 2 feels Madrid’s outspoken courting of his Portuguese compatriot is about more than their wish to get Ronaldo, claiming it is part of the long history and rivalry between Portugal and Spain.

Queiroz also claim that

“It’s being done in a manner to distract the Portugal team, at the height of their preparations for the European Championships,”

Well it’s a super freaking big attack from our 2nd boss to the Spanish club.

Now to Colombus, claiming someone nationality sounds too strange to me. So I decide to check Christopher Colombus’s Wikipedia page, and found no clear indication whether the Admiral of the Ocean Sea is either Portuguese or Spanish (or even Italian).

The best related story to Colombus that i could find is this:

Academic consensus establishes that he was born in Genoa, although other minor theories have been posited. The name Christopher Columbus is the Anglicization of the Latin Christophorus Columbus. Also well known are his name’s rendering in modern Italian as Cristoforo Colombo, in Portuguese as Cristóvão Colombo (formerly Christovam Colom), and in Spanish as Cristóbal Colón.

And, the fact that, he was born in Italy and died in Spain.

From IMDB database (regarding Christoper Colombus - The Discovery Movie) Colombus also has several aliases like:

Cristóbal Colón: el descubrimiento     Argentina / Spain
Christophe Colomb: La découverte     France
Christopher Columbus - äventyraren     Sweden
Christopher Columbus - Der Entdecker     Germany
Cristóvão Colombo - A Aventura do Descobrimento     Brazil
Cristoforo Colombo: la scoperta     Italy
Hristoforos Kolomvos: I anakalypsi tis Amerikis     Greece
Kolumb odkrywca     Poland
Kolumbus - seikkailijoista suurin     Finland

Well things is beginning to be absurd as i don’t know that much about history.

But whatever Christopher Colombus actual nationality is:

  1. He’s so cool and it is worth to have somebody like him representing your nation.
  2. Ronaldo is a Portuguese and plays for Manchester United.
  3. Real Madrid is weird.

His Future is in Spanish Football

Thoughts, players May 24th, 2008

I just watch the replay of the Moscow drama, i still get ghosebumps. I feel it and I’m glad. Soon after feeling the glorious moment for God knows how many times in the last 4 days, i connected to the internet and was checking my feed reader and found passionate Red Rant’s post Revisiting the Ronaldo Debate.

This post was actually written as a comment on that post, but then i realize, when i push the ‘Submit Comment’ button, mine will be in the first row from who know how long the list of comments will be seeing the hotness of this topic.

However, I just don’t want to fill a big blog with a lot of followers like Red Rants with my angry statement. It’s embarrassing. So, since i pay all the bill to keep this blog Reds Conspiracy running, i felt i am going to post my original comment here. At least, if i’m wrong, i embarrassed myself in my own home :D.

To resume the post, i assume that the following excerpt is the key to the whole paragraph:

Ronaldo has never made secret, his intention to play in Spain someday. Also, ever since we won the Champions’ League he has been interviewed by almost every journalist in the European Union. So it really is hard answering the same questions put to him over and over again.

What is worrying about this trend though is that there have been too many contradicting remarks to the same questions. In some of them he says “I’ll stay” and in others it’s “I can’t promise” or “I’ll know next week”.

My question is this: why does Ronaldo have second thoughts about staying at the club for another season, at least? What does he want from the club? If it’s a big pay day, didn’t he just sign the contract last season? If it was for his ‘dream’, how difficult is it for a moment, especially amidst the euhoria of wining the CL trophy, to say that he’s staying just to assure fans, because they rightly deserve it.

There you go. Read the bold red letters. The fans beg him to stay, and i believe this is not only a small portion of Reds. To be honest, deep down inside, i do beg him to stay. I know it’s somehow worthy, if only next year Ronaldo can play, if not contribute to the team, as good as this season.

So here’s my thought as a respon to the passionate post from Red Rants:

Sorry to fill the first comment this way but this is what i really feel since his bully statements totally ruining the party. We’ve been waiting for this moment for such a long time and finally make it. Finally, we’re European Champions. Again.

However, lately Ronaldo’s attitude (boldly judged from his statements) has been like, i’m the one who take the club to all great things this season, now i’m bringing it to another place.

I also sick of people and media who talk about his ‘future’ in Spain after learn all the best thing of modern football in OT. It’s like, we prepare for his future in Real Madrid. WTF? It’s totally rubbish.

Now is his future, he’s at his prime!

The more he act like this, the more i confident that Reds can go on without him, as fast as next season. Of course, if he stay, our chances to win even more is bigger.

All in all, he’s the same lad that dodge Rooney in the world cup. He don’t change.

Thanks Ronnie for confusing me.

I’m going to add a little more recipe to the menu. If anyone saw Ronaldo’s interview on TV soon after failed to take the penalty which almost cost the title the Reds won the Champions League, he was talking about himself. But then Anderson came and scream to the camera, suddenly, he changed his words from ‘I’ to ‘us’, ‘the lads deserve the trophy’ blah blah blah…

I know, he’s young and i’m so lame to boldly judge the best footballer in the world who has contribute so much to the club i love by this very end. But hey, even all hard long Chelsea’s season decided spectacularly by penalties (and banana :-D).

Life sucks, you will be judged by your last call, no matter how good (or bad) you are.

champions Thoughts on The Kings of Europe

I was tempted not to post anything after the Champions League win. Soon after the game finished, i browsed around the world wide web, reading all those beautiful coverage of the Kings of Europe. You know, you think you have it ‘enough’.

I watched the game LIVE on TV anyway so i don’t discover anything new, which include:

  1. Chelsea players didn’t feel to lose. Hold on. Yo blues. Do you read the text in the medal you received carefully. Does it written that you were the winners? Hah?.
  2. The haters is already talking about next year. Next year is going to be ours, we’ll beat you blah blah blah. Dude. They think they are the only ones who have next year plans. Yeah see you next year, but now it’s all about Reds.

Dude, the feeling to see the win was fantastic, even though it’s all the same stories. In the last 24 hours, it’s all about Manchester United in about everywhere. World wide web, TV, papers; name it.

However, one of the best thing of having a blog and blog about what i love, is that i am able to use the posts to discover what i do, including my past, present and future feelings. It’s a cool way to remembering the good time and bad times. It’s more likely to be a personal journal, that anyone else in the world with internet connection, can also read. So, i decide to post some of my thoughts.

Here we go. The Final Of Champions League 2007-2008; Manchester United VS Chelsea.

Whatever…

First things first; the bad things.

  1. Important lad that was missing in the cloud of Reds: Ji Sung Park. You’re another unsung hero!
  2. Ronaldo’s statement regarding his future. He’s an egoistic maniac and totally ruin the party. I don’t think he will ever change. He’s the same lad who ask the referee to card Rooney at the World Cup. I bet Tevez will score more goals if he leaves! But, let’s leave it to Sir Alex.
  3. That Ivorian thug, who again had his clashes with Vidic whom successfully kept him under his pocket throughout the game. Drogba, you’re a fucking idiot!
  4. I don’t understand why, when shots that hit the post labeled as ‘unlucky’. Here’s my thought on that. The shots are just not good enough that it don’t end at the goal. So to me it’s not unlucky, it’s not good enough. Period.’

Now the good part. The F***ing Win. Yesss!

Oh man the game was freaking tight. I watch the first goal with pride. You know, it’s good to see Wesley Brown can finally pass the ball ‘right’ on such important occassion, and that boy Ronaldo finished it off with style. His first goal against Chelsea. Several minutes after the goal, Reds find it hard to stop bombing the blue side of the pitch. It was maginificent long pass from Rooney after dispossessing a Chelsea striker passed through the right foot of Ronaldo. He then passed it right to Tevez followed by the awesome move by the big Chelsea goal keeper. However the clearance ball from Chelsea defender was only as far as Carrick that shot and only the great reflect of Cech keep Chelsea stays on the game. Came late at the first half, an equaliser came after Essien shot, which bounces from Vidic and Ferdinand, that lead the ball to unmarked Lampard. Edwin Van Der Sar slipped in the vital moment, another Chelsea ugly goal came, 1-1!

The second half, Chelsea played like a different team. But we have our chances and our defensive players were just wonderful.

The game went to extra time. As always, extra times are just awful for me. It was 20 tired lads running around to chase 1 ball that moves around the pitch. Nervy, as Chelsea have their moments. But again we passed it well. However, Giggsy almost brings us Champions League title early, after super cool run by Evra, but Terry’s super reflect header was awesomely denied the United legend to score his first Champions League final goal.

In the end, after no signs of a winner, penalty shoot out was even worst. I felt like i was going to pee in my pant everytime another Reds took on penalty. However, Ronaldo failed penalty was covered by Terry’s miss. He had the chance for glory, but weirdly enough, the score were back levelled. The next taker was Giggsy. He brought Chech the wrong way. He score. Level! Then there came the decisive moment, when Nicholas ‘the always rejecting Reds’ Anelka step up to the ball, only to be denied our own EDWIN VAN DER SAR.

That’s it. We’re crowned. The Champions of Europe.

Oh yeah you Reds!
