Today i posted a link on my tweet, to YouTube’s blog. The online video giant just announced that they win the case against Viacom.
What does this mean to football fans?
On its lawsuit, Viacom accused YouTube “massive intentional copyright infringement” and seeking more than $1 billion in damages. This because tons of Viacom’s content are uploaded to YouTube by its users. However, today Judge Louis Stanton of the Southern District Court NYC issued his opinion in the long standing legal battle between YouTube and Viacom.
According to Fred Wilson:
This decision means that other user generated content services will not have to make the choice that YouTube had to make. Judge Stanton ruled that YouTube was operating within the framework of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) which says that web services that have infringing material in them must respond to take down notices but do not have to proactively weed out their services of all infringing material.
Time and time again we’ve seen fan’s football clips deleted, and we play cat and mouse with the tyrannical Premiere League (video on this post for example). But according to updated YouTube’s blog post, this decision includes their content too!
Please note that I am not trying to say that football fans can infringe Premier League’s content and re-distribute it illegally or any other ways they want. But if only the corporate EPL would like to play nice with the fans, which had been helpful to make their league the biggest league in the world, i think that’s just great.

I love your website! did you create this yourself or did you outsource it? Im looking for a blog design thats similar so thats the only reason I’m asking. Can i get similar template with this?
