The Ghosts of St. Petersburg

match results, stupidity August 30th, 2008

They’re alive and haunting.

Their first appearance was at the UEFA Cup final in which they won against Celtic that triggered a chaos among the loosing fans that destroy the City of Manchester. These acts killed Manchester United European success’ celebration parade.

Second appearance was last night, where they beaten full team Manchester United at Monaco at UEFA Super Cup. We outplayed and embarassingly beaten 2-1. They become the first Russian team Ghosts who’ve won the cup (did you see how happy Roman Abramovich was?).

On the game side; bad performances but i forgive Scholes. Yes it was embarasing night but we shall move on and left the ghosts behind.

Let them haunt everyone else, we have more title to catch.

Come on you Reds!

Another Award for Ronaldo

award August 29th, 2008

Ronaldo took home UEFA Club Forward of the Year award (forward??), while John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech won their respective position awards.

Well this is a Manchester United fan blog that always have biases. However i think Lampard was instrumental for bringing Chelsea to 2 runner ups, but John Terry ahead of Ferdinand and Vidic? Cech ahead of Van Der Sar?

Hold on, 2 seasons ago, Ronaldo beaten by Kaka for World Footballer of The Year because he was better than Kaka but his club didn’t win the Champions League (that’s what the pundits said). While last year, John Terry and Cech failed to hold our team taking their Champions League and Premier League dreams away. Am i missing something here?

Lately i kinda feel football pundits (especially in Southeast Asia) are into Chelsea and start to writing off Man Utd (just like last year). But that made end of season wins felt sweeter.

Anyway, congratulations Ronaldo. This post is for you, not for Chelsea players. Sorry for the ramblings.

Manchester United in Group E Champions League 2008/2009

champions league, fixtures August 29th, 2008

The European Champions will start the campaign to retain their European title in Group E. There’s no AS Roma this year, instead we will be at the same group with Villarreal, Celtic and Aalborg.

While i don’t know much of Denmark’s Aalborg, Celtic is the champions of Scottish Premier League and Villareal was 2nd in the Spanish League last season. Celtic once beat us in the UCL campaign, while ex reds Giuseppe Rossi is the bomber at Villareal.

However, i don’t think we will face too many difficulties to pass the group stage although surprises will always a possibility. It’s the Champions League for God sake (even John Terry slips :D).

But at least now the coaching team know who the lads will face in the UCL and concentrating all efforts to get our injured players back on the field to bring back our usual winning way.

It’s time for Zenit St Petersburg in Monaco on Friday at the UEFA Super Cup, we need to get the win for our 2nd ‘trophy’ of the season.

Come on Campiones!

Portsmouth 0-1 Man Utd

match results, players August 26th, 2008

Fratton Park has always been a difficult place for Manchester United to visit. Well i think for any other clubs as well. But especially for Manchester United in recent years. The face of Rio after his own goal a couple years ago in Pompey’s homeground still haunt me until today.

However, today we don’t talk about any of ‘1st class’ Manchester United stars, instead, the hero of both 2 last games is no other than Darren Fletcher.

His goal in 32nd minutes enable us to bring full points away from home and give us more confidence, despite dozen injuries, to face Liverpool and Chelsea away.

Can’t say much but thank you Darren Fletcher for staying.

Come on you reds.

Post Match Ramblings

match results August 18th, 2008

Tevez was shockingly not featured in the team, he’s not even in the bench and we found no way to beat Shay Given. Although it’s nice to see young Possebon and Rafael Da Silva in the field respectively, Rooney and Campbell were so freaking quite. I guess the zebra’s back four and their midfielders has done a great job.

However, Rooney got his chance to take full points to the team on his last minute free kick, but he missed it.

I lost my ability to watch the game live on TV and while other 3 clubs in the big 4 all got their wins, we stuck at home held by Newcastle United 1-1.

I don’t know, i think it’s just another bad day.

Online Live Streaming English Football

fixtures, stupidity August 17th, 2008

These are the times i really want to leave Indonesia and go elsewhere. Really.

It’s a pity. Today is our so-called Independence Day, but we’ve never independent anyway.

You know what, the retarded cable tv service, whom i subscribe, legally and pay it monthly, has suddenly retardedly announced that they won’t stream English Premiere League anymore. I just know it from the internet today and i was speechless. I subscribe to the ignorance company because they promise that they get exclusive rights to stream EPL for 3 years. And 2008/2009 is only the 2nd year.

So they lied.

I know there’s nothing i can and any other subscribers do. Suing them? Hey, you don’t do that if you live in Indonesia. You just have to pay for everything, get shit in return, shut the f**k up and get on with your pity life.

I’m a good citizen anyway, i don’t hack for a living. I pay for everything i use. So these things really really bothers me.

Anyway, sorry for the rants.

I’ve paid my legal subscription anyway, but the service can’t deliver. What should i do, wait? Till when, tomorrow? Next week? Next month? I found this link to watch it live in the internet. I’m not sure if it’s legal so you watch it with your own risk

So f**k it, here’s the link or here or here to watch Manchester United VS Newcastle United a.k.a. the Barcodes LIVE online.

Come on you Reds!

Update: I try to embed the stream below:

Still no new striker in the squad yet as reports suggest. I’m getting restless as the opening game is coming this Sunday.

In other news, just like at several opening games last seasons, the doubters start to write us off. This time the words came out from ex United legend Roy Keane. I don’t have a crystal ball so i can’t give Keano’s statement a hit back as the season has not even started. But i’m sure the team will develop this year, which is backed by our own Michael Carrick.

If one legend stays at Old Traford related jobs or even quits football, then we can expect backing from them as most of them stays being a fan. But if they’re out, then they’re out. Sadly, Keano is not different.

Fuck it, let’s win more titles.

Berbatov, Silva, Henry, Huntelaar or Noone At All

players August 15th, 2008

The news of United chasing new striker has been hit the world since the beginning of the summer, as Saha is doubtfully fit as ever and Manucho has yet getting his England work permit.

The news broke that Spanish youngster Daid Silva rejected the opportunity to join the European Champions (i do really like this lad - but i don’t know if he can run that fast in EPL) by signing contract extension with Valencia and United bidding old Thierry Henry is probably just a gossip. But Arsene quickly dismissed our chance to get his ex axe whilst many fans don’t want him wearing Red Devils uniform either. Of course it will be good to see if Henry can score at Emirates ha ha ha. But hey no Henry please, he’s too old and if ever he’s back to England perhaps he better join the other elders at Chelsea. Maybe he could become a father figure for captain cry baby John Terry.

Our bid to Dimitar Berbatov seems like stalk again and this morning media launch the rumours that Barcelona could also put a bit on Bulgarian striker while Tottenham will be pleased to let Berbatov go to the Spanish giant for discounted price. FY too Levy!

In the last option, Real Madrid has quoted that they have launched a £20 million bid for Huntelaar, the young Ajax striker that we are reportedly interested.

So it’s now or never for the club as the new season will soon to begin. All in all, i’m convince that only massive sets of bad luck will stop us to win titles again with or without these strikers.

Fuck off haters, come on you Reds!

Community Shield 2008 Wrapped

fixtures, match results, players August 11th, 2008

We need striker. That’s the wrapped up of the FA Community Shield 2008 in which we won by penalties to Portsmouth today.

Tevez was the man of the match but he can’t do it alone like what he did with West Ham a couple of seasons ago. However if Portsmouth won, David James should be the man of the day after keeping all shots beyond his goal line.

In other notes, Nani looks alright, it’s good to see our captain Gary back to the line up, also good to see Brown replace him, and also also good to see youngsters like Possebon & Rafael Da Silva at the bench.

The long hard season will start next week as we will face Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United at Old Trafford. But as ever, it’s great to see we win and a good build up to the 2008/2009 season to retain the double and hope to win more.

Really hope that we can see all first team fit as the season goes, and if the club could land one more striker dude that’ll be awesome.

Come on you reds.

12 O’Clock Blog at The Official Site

Starting Monday (next Monday i guess), there will be a new feature at The Official Site called 12 O’Clock Blog.

We’ll be publishing a new blog each weekday at 12 o’clock on ManUtd.com - hence the ingenious title, the 12 O’Clock Blog. The new page design will be a tad more creative - we persuaded our designers to put down their frizbee, stop harping on about Helvetica and Comic Sans and open their pencil cases.

If you also blog about our club, this might be cool:

For your blogs, we’ll create a special forum on our Talking Reds message board where you can discuss that day’s blog or post your own on any subject of your choice. If we like your blog, we’ll publish it on ManUtd.com.

However, they still asked to come back and forth to the website every day at 12 O’Clock rather than offering RSS feeds. But hey who knows in the future (anyway, i don’t mind with that).

Check out the full news at Manchester United Official Site here.
